Bhutan Literacy Rate

The chart illustrates the World Bank report on the literacy rate of Bhutan from 2005 to 2021. The population target is from individuals aged 15 years and above, and the chart is divided into three categories such as male, female, and total percentage. Overall, the literacy rate was higher among males than females. The total literacy rate peaked in 2021, whereas it was lowest in 2005 for both genders.

In 2005, the literacy rate for females was 39%. while for males it was 65%, averaging at 52.8%. Over the years, there appears to be a slight upward trend in the bar graph, indicating an increase in literacy rates for both genders in Bhutan by 2.5%. The literacy rate for females was 45.2% and for males it was 66%, totaling it to approximately 55.3% in the year of 2012. By 2017, the literacy rate for females rose up to 57%, and for males it was 75%, totaling 66.6%. In 2021, the highest literacy rate was noticed, with females at 63% and males at 77.9%, totaling 70.9%. This clearly indicates a significant rise in the literacy rates over the years.
